Hehe, all this talk of Big F's makes me think of Big C's, and that makes me a little flustered.

I had been considering cam locks and now am convinced. If using a big C, does the male cam A type restrict flow, or is the ID large enough to make any restriction negligible? Thanks. Will be ordering soon.

No, all the other fittings flow wide open (over 1/2" ID) and the type C was the only real bottleneck in my opinion.

This looks good. I've been going back and forth between CamLocks and QDs.
Considering the higher price, do the QDs have any major advantages over the camlocks?

I have some of the sleeve lock style disconnects but not in front of me to measure the inside diameter. I do remember my initial impression being that I wouldn't call them a camlock killer so I didn't stock them. The one advantage is that the disconnecting operation is one handed. Reconnecting can also be one handed if you're able to pull the sleeve back. The disadvantage at least now is that the hose barb is obviously nearly as restrictive as the one on the stock type C camlock.

I love the QDs for the one-handed operation, but I'm switching to camlocks for a very important reason: the restriction often causes stoppages when I start a recirculation on my mash.
About half the time I brew, I get a stoppage when I open the valve from the mash tun to the pump. I then have to disconnect the tubing, blow out the stoppage, and restart. I'm hoping the much larger ID of the camlocks eliminate this problem.

OK - Thanks. There is a pretty big price difference. I'm trying to figure out my best option.

Is there a reason most people choose to put the female cam lock connector on the hose rather than the equipment that they are making the connection to?

The 'F' connector is cheaper than the 'B' connector and I use more 'F'. It's just a matter of cost. I have 'F' on the HLT, pump, MLT, BK, and just a few 'B' on a couple hoses.
