My book just arrived. Unfortunately I cannot read it as my wife insists on wrapping it as a Christmas present.

Just received this in the mail today. I look forward to reading it. I was very close to opening a brewery back in the mid 1990s and even had a Specific Mechanical system lined up. But, there were just too many people getting into the game then and GA and it's 3-tier system was just too unfriendly. I got cold feet right before the "correction" occurred. There is a similar boom going on now. If GA ever allows self distribution and tasting rooms that can actually sell instead of sample, this state will explode with brewery start-ups. I make too much money to seriously think about it now until I retire.

It's true there are a lot of people getting into the business. I was in it in the 90's as well. The ones who got into it for the money are no longer in business. But my friends who had a passion about their beer still are. We all started with small crappy systems. I have stayed small out of choice, but my good friends have not - Avery, Left Hand, New Belgium, Ska and Odell. If you brew out of passion and have good business sense, you don't need to worry about a fall out. I could go on and on.

I can't argue with you on the industry. You know it better than most and that is why I bought your book! If I were to get into the business, I would not want to be an industry giant...maybe just a couple of states BTW, your Immersion Course looks like a great deal for someone looking to gain some hands-on experience.

Just ordered this book an looking forward to reading it! My buddy (the business guy) and I (the brewer/engineer) have been toying with the idea of opening a brewery for a bit now. Hope this book will give us a good understanding of what it will actually take.

By a "specific mechanical" system do you mean the company in Victoria BC Canada? Cause I work there
