We keep the flat rate the same even though UPS raises thier rates 5% every January. So we are paying more for shipping every year but not passing it on to the customer.

5% annually???? That's A LOT. Sheesh, I'd hate to see your shipping bill....what about FedEx? I usually find that their rates are a bit more reasonable....

It has been my experience that Fed Ex is less a little less but also less reliable for thier ground shipments. Not a risk I want to take on your packages.

I agree, I have commercial UPS account and love the pricing and customer service. I've never had a problem that went unresolved with UPS(can't say the same for FedEx)
one of my warehouse "neighbors" is contracted Fed Ex driver-she leaves notes on my door telling me to walk around the corner over to her "shop" oinstead of dropping them off at my door.

Every time a Fed Ex sales girl tries to "woo" me away from UPS I bring up one thing...Customer service! Her only rebuttal has been,"we can beat UPS' price. Not the answer I was looking for.

Just placed another order.

The lowered prices are a pleasant surprise.

It's refreshing that a business is passing on savings to it's customers rather than reaping increased profit margins.

Forrest,

This seems as good a place as any to ask this so here goes. I was cruising around your store online and came across this product in your refrigeration control area: http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?cPath=178_40_366&products_id=1249 5

I haven't seen something like this before and I'm intrigued. Can you tell us anything more about it than what's on the page? Easy to install for those of us who are mechanically disinclined? Any idea what all it involves? I looks pretty neat and I'm just getting ready to set up a freezer as a fermentation chamber. This might be the way for me to go.

Forrest - I know that this has been answered in the past (but can't find the post). What maltster is your bulk 2-row from?

Thanks
