In my experience, a little warning goes a long way to having a happy (or at least less frustrated) customer.

Do you really NEED to be told something like this ? I'm sorry if I'm coming across as rude, but that seems to be a given.

The delay is because of the volume of orders to fulfill. Most of the items we were out of because of the sale have arrived already.

It's funny, I seem to disagree with you in almost everythread. Our ideologies must be at completely opposite ends of the spectrum. This case is no different.

YES, it would be helpful if a warning like this was given. Especially when the order will take much longer than the 2-3 days specified on the website. I'm reading cases on this thread that took nearly TWO weeks to arrive. I damn well better be informed if it's going to take that long. I know I'm not alone in the fact that I'll typically place an order on a weekend or early in the week with a plan of brewing the following weekend. According to the website, orders should be processed and shipped in plenty of time for that to happen. So we order based on this assumption. If it is going to take 3x the time it's supposed to, we'd like to know, so that we can make other plans for the brew we're planning.

Two weeks, I can understand getting upset about, and an e mail explaining the situation WOULD be nice, but the couple of posts that I read were complaints stating simply "more that two - three days."
Admittedly, I didn't bother to read the entire thread, as I saw no reason for it.

On the same note, the last on-line order that I placed was with Northern, early on a Friday, and the order didn't ship until Wed. When I'm used to a same day, or next day shipping, that upset me, to say the least, considering that I was planning on BREWING on Wed, and they didn't even have a sale going on.

I got my new kettle and wort chiller yesterday- I ordered on Sunday, got a UPS tracking number Monday, and got my loot on Thursday. I'm happy with that- thanks! Now I can test out the new equipment this weekend

Well, my order shipped quickly and is scheduled to arrive on Monday. Per usual, my experience with Austin Homebrew was top notch.

I bought $160 worth of items that would have cost me more elsewhere. I am very pleased.

One thing I would suggest though Forrest is that if you do sales again, which it sounds like you may not, maybe do them on a Sunday/Monday. I had no immediate need for my stuff, so I don't care, but if I was planning on ordering ingredients for a batch, a sale on Thursday would do me no good, I would be much more inclined to go to the LHBS to get what I needed for that weekend.

I hope I am not coming off as complaining because I love your store, I love your service, and I love that you support HBT. This is just an observation that I wanted to share with you.

Have a great day.

Actually I think its best to have sales on Wed-Fri. That way no one thinks they're like to get them by the weekend, and most folks will assumes it will be here the week after. That gives Forrest the weekend to catch up.

Why bother posting in a thread when you choose not to inform yourself? It's a disservice to you and the people who read your post's.

True. I guess the pendulum swings both ways. For me though, if I was going to buy ingredients for a batch I was planning on brewing that weekend, I would skip the sale and go to my LHBS for the ingredients if the sale was late in the week. If it was early in the week, I would be inclined to take advantage of the lower price. Of course you are right though; if I ended up taking advantage of the lower price and then didnt get my goods, I would probably be pissed.

really? you actually think it'll be faster if he gets all of these orders all within the same 3 days, while dealing with customers at a brick and mortar which would more than likely come in over a weekend? Not sure how this helps out at all.

The bottom line is, people are ordering from an online vendor. People shouldn't expect things to be shipped the next day, unless specifically told otherwise. I see some legitimate gripes here, but most just seem bitchy for the sake of being bitchy. If you don't like the way your order was handled, contact the vendor directly or just don't use them again. Seems pretty easy? There's always other places online to order if people aren't happy with AHB's service. I typically go through more than one online vendor depending on my needs, pricing and shipping. I also try to plan ahead by 2-3 weeks and never assume to be brewing the same weekend I order something. Play it safe and don't be ignorant.

Rock on AHB and keep doing what you're doing.
