My experience has been bad with FedEx Home Delivery. Never had a problem with FedEx Air or Ground. But Home Delivery has messed it up every time. They keep saying that my address does not exist. Shows up on every map or GPS I ever looked at.

Our company ships the majority of packages with FedEx. There's rarely a problem and when there is, they take care of me. When we shipped with UPS, it was their way or the highway.

Honestly Forrest, aren't you doing to FedEx what you complain some posters do to you? You're taking an isolated incident and applying it to all FedEx services.

I have had both FedEx and UPS claim to have delivered packages to my door, when they weren't really delivered. For a while a couple of years ago, every package I ordered that was shipped with UPS was a nightmare, and I dreaded when websites would only offer UPS shipping.

Nowadays, the "regular" delivery guys for both services know me, know where I am and never fail to deliver my package in a timely fashion. It's only when those guys are off duty and I get some other random guy filling in that the troubles seem to occur.

I don't see any reason to select one over the other; any problems people have seem to be local to their own distribution center.

UPS has done to me what FedEx did to Forrest. Tracking shows it was delivered, someone was home at the time it says it was delivered, but no package ever showed up.

Well, to be fair, we don't know that it never showed up because, at the time this happened, the drivers weren't even bothering to ring the doorbell when they dropped off a package at the front door (in full sight of the street). I might be home all day and then walk out the front door to find a package sitting there. We had called to complain (several times) that the drivers weren't even ringing the doorbell and got a fairly lukewarm response. We were annoyed, but we did receive the packages, until that one.

Unfortunately for UPS, they had to eat it. Even more unfortunately, this wasn't some $12 book or anything like that. It was a $400 netbook. The drivers ring the bell now.

I imagine everyone has a bad day. I tend to choose FedEx, though, because of my experiences with UPS. Also, my FedEx distribution center is about a mile away from my house, so picking up a package from a missed delivery is no problem.

UPS almost gave me a hydraulic log splitter once. Right address, wrong street. Easy mistake to make, as the addressee's house isn't marked and it's right after turn off the paved road.

I am just relaying my experience. I wouldn't want an important package from me to you pretend to be delivered.

I don't despise Fed Ex because of an isolated incedence. It was very frustrating though.

I am sure that there are isolated incedences with UPS on your end as well.

I just have to pick one of them and I have not had issues with UPS.

Posters have every right to complain if it is a legitamate concern. I did talk to Amazon first before I posted here. They took care of me. I am not saying you should not use Fed Ex. I am just giving reason why I choose not to use them for your important packages.

Forrest

I have never had a problem with FedEx but UPS has been better to me. There was one time I was waiting at home for 2 packages before I could leave for a trip. At noon the UPS truck pulled up and only had 1 of my packages. The driver explained that the other package must be on another truck and will be delivered later. The later delivery is usually around 5pm! It was looking like the trip will be delayed waiting on this package when 10 minutes later the same UPS guy comes back with my package! He said down the road he saw the other UPS guy and radioed him. He had my package so they met and got the package and came back specifically to deliver it to me...

Every time I have something shipped by FedEx its always on the truck for delivery but is never delivered until the next day or the day after. Last time I called they told me that any ground delivery is not guaranteed for the delivery date listed when it ships and its up to the driver if they have time to make all their deliveries or they have the option to take it back to the hub for deliver at another date? I have never had any problems with UPS if I picked regular ground my package usually arrives a day before the scheduled delivery date or the day of the latest. But FedEx is a whole other story.

Speaking of the brew day items I just reordered the aeration kit that I originally ordered from you guys at AHB but it went back out of stock so I asked for a refund and ordered it from Williams Brewing and paid for 2 day FedEx. Well I got a nice surprise when I got my tracking info and the 2Day FedEx that Williams uses doesn’t deliver on Saturday! So I paid $17 or something to have my package sitting down the street at the FedEx hub about 4 miles from my house on Saturday but no delivery or the ability to pick it up! So my latest two brews which were my most expensive to date Pliny and Bells Two Hearted IPA were done without my new aeration kit. And not to thread jack or anything when I called Williams about this issue I must say that they are a bunch a pricks. The conversation was pretty much well tough you should have read the fine print when ordering. I should have just waited for AHB to restock and fulfill my order since I have had nothing but pleasurable conversations with AHB whenever a issue arrived. Glad that your wife wasnt pissed about the problem!

I've had good experiences with fedex - not so impressed with UPS. Then again, it did take them a solid week to get a package from BMW to me.

I will say that I've had many packages shipped through fedex, ups, and USPS. UPS is the only one where I can count on the package being beat to crap.
