I actually started out kegging with one on the steel 4lbs. tanks they offer. Couldn't resist getting a 7lbs. and being able to have the 4lbs. for a backup.

Bought one of these seven pounders a few weeks ago. Well packaged, prompt delivery. Took it to get filled today and had zero problems. To prevent rust, you may want to try a Rustoleum product on the bottom.

Box showed up this morning.

Perfect condition, no damage , well packed in just a few working days from order. My local welding gas supplier did not even blink at filling it for me. Sitting in his freezer right now, to be filled in just a bit...
EDIT: Filled no issue, $20 for 7lb of CO2

Time to order a second one

Has anyone had problems recently getting those filled? I'm about to pull the trigger since I can't seem to find anyone who can tell me how to connect my 33 oz SodaStream CO2 tanks to a regulator

No problem at all just a few days ago.

Did not even have to show them the paperwork that comes with tank.

Took it to my local welding gas place, they froze it, filled it and I walked out 4 hours later with a filled tank.

UPDATE: received my tank yesterday and went to http://www.hkfireprotection.com/ to get it filled. Paid $11 and had it back within 5 minutes. The tank looks solid and like new so I'm excited about trying it out soon!

How did they freeze it in 5 min or less?

And if they only cooled it by filling and then venting CO2... you likely did not get 7lb worth of CO2.. Though $11 is a good price even for only 5~6lb

Just saying.
Tare weight is listed on the tank... weigh your "full" one... see if it is Tare Weight PLUS 7lb.

I saw him fill it on a scale. It went to 7.12 lbs and then shut off. No idea what should have happened even after 3 hours the tank is still pretty cold. Thanks for the warning though!
