Again, does 5 gallon mean "5 gallons at the end of the boil?" (Most sources seem to use this convention). If so, then you are going to have extra space in that 5 gallon carboy for secondary. If you end the boil with 6 gallons (what I call a 6 gallon batch), leave 0.5 gallon in the kettle (break, hops, etc.) and 0.5 gallons in the primary (yeast, trub). Then you are left with 5 gallons to go in the carboy.
