Can I use Dry Wine Yeast -Syrah in some stout beer I was wanting to brew today?
I really doubt that this would be a good idea.
Primary - Big Pale Citra Ale (AG)(1.063)
Secondary - Bitter (AG)
Bottled - Best Bitter, Bitter, SNPA clone
On deck - Tank #7 clone.
I'm pretty sure brewer's yeast is called such because it can ferment maltose, which is a major portion of the fermentable sugars in wort. I don't think wine yeast has the same capability.
