I was wondering if a standard 21x21x32 dorm frig would allow me to put a 5 gallon bucket inside for fermenation? I figured someone had tried this before, and before I buy one I was curious if it would fit since it looks like the door depth may eat up quite a bit of inside space.

I haven't tried it. You'd probably need to throw a tape on an example fridge and see where you are. You might be able to modify the fridge if needed, but if that's the case, pick one up from craigslist or wait for your nearest college to get out (it's amazing what kids will throw away rather than move). No sense in ruining a brand new fridge when you can get a frankenstein one for next to nothing.

I doubt a dorm fridge will fit a 5 gal bucket. Do yourself right throw a cheap Craigslist fridge in your garage or a buddy's garage, slap on a Johnson controls a419 temp controller and ferment/cold crash away!
