Default Too Much Priming Sugar?

I've notice that most of my beers are a little over carbonated. I'm wondering if I take an ounce of my Priming Sugar out if I need to adjust the amount of water I use with the 5 minute boil. I'm currently using 5oz Priming sugar with 8oz water and boil for 5 minutes. Thanks

Ben

Five ounces can be in excess for some beer styles. Here is a couple of links for priming calculators. I don't always go by style. Most often it is just what I prefer.

No you do not need to adjust the amount of water. You only need enough to dissolve the sugar so you don't turn it to caramel while it is boiling. 8/640 oz is insignificant
