Default Sweet Stout

When brewing a sweet stout will my final gravity be higher than normal due to the non-fermentable lactose in the recipe. This is more of a general question not a question on when fermentation is done.

starting gravity was 1048.

You won't get much below .020 or possibly just above.

Edit: Starting at .048 you'll probably get to .015-18. You want that to get that good mouthfeel.

Lactose will not ferment out. So you can figure the gravity added by your lactose will still be there after fermentation. 1# of lactose will increase your expected FG by about 0.009. At 1.019 you are probably done.
Same also goes for Malto-dextrin.
