Default Sulfur Smell ????

Yesterday I brewed my Coconut porter. Put in my room ( the most consistent temp around 75 degrees) And this AM noticed it was bubbling. I also noticed a sulfur smell A very very strong sulfur smell. I have brewed 4 batches before and never had this smell. I think it is the yeast I'm using I used 2 pouches of Wyeast London Ale III in this 5 gallon bucket. I have only ever used dry yeast or 1 packet of liquid. Does that sound right has anyone else ever had a strong methane odor? I know that largers give off this smell But this is not larger. nor was it larger yeast.

Don't fret too much. Some yeast strains do produce more sulfur smell than others. Each time I use California Ale Yeast (YLP-051 IIRC) I get a sulfur smell. You are correct; lager yeast is notorious but not the only culprit. Relax, and let your brew do it's thing. Let us know how it turns out!

Good luck,

Serving- Hard Apple Cider and Cherry Pils
Secondary- Strawberry Wheat
Conditioning- Empty

Primary- Zilch
Yes, this is getting too long...

Ya that is a little abnormal for that strain. Usually when I get sulfur from ale yeast its at colder temps like lower 60s. The yeast may be a little stressed. Did you make a starter? I would not worry too much though. The H2S will evolve off given enough time.

Your beer is going to taste like butt cheeks fermenting at that temp. If you ambient temp is at 75 and you pitched 2 packs, it is probably in the 80s!
