Default Storing Wort....good idea?

Is it a common brewing practice to store wort provided it is in a sterile container and kept at room temperature for use later?

Thanks..

That would be a bad idea, the normal process is, boil it, cool it as fast as possible, rack it to the primary, pitch the yeast and cork it. Wort is a fertile medium for bacteria and wild yeast, the sooner you can get the yeast you want in it the better.

There are a number of folks who store sterile wort (boiled, in a sanitized container) for easy yeast innoculation later. It's not a bad practice at all.. as long as your sanitation is good.

You have to refrigerate it if you just sanitize. If you have a pressure cooker & can it, you'd be ok. One bacteria and 24 hours (72 generations) is all it takes.

Yep, agree with David, definitely refrigerate it. It's a great idea to keep some around for waking up starters.
