Quick question, I just brewed my first batch of beer last Wednesday night. I learned a lot of things just from that first batch, and hopefully won't repeat the same mistakes twice. But one thing I did wrong was pitch the yeast before taking the specific gravity. Does this really matter. I took the S.G. about 2 minutes after pitching the yeast. Of course the even bigger mistake I made was that I didn't write the S.G. down.
I'd appreciate any advise for the beginner. Thanks.
I did this with my last batch too.
It won't actually affect your reading; the only problem might be taking some of the (initially small amount of) yeast out of the fermenter.
It should be fine, so relax, have a homebrew!
