Simple, but perfectly drinkable beer:
6 lbs light dry malt extract. dissolve in 2-3 gallons of water and bring to a boil.
1 oz hops (pick one) - boil for an hour.
1oz hops (pick one) - add to the last 15 minutes of the boil.
cool to room temperature, pour into your fermentor and add water to make a total of 5 gallons.
pitch in a packet of dry yeast (nottingham, safale so-5)
