Default Separating cold break

I hate to touch my wort after it is cooled. On the other hand, I take it that separating out coagulated proteins etc. after the cold break makes for cleaner fermentation. Is it a good idea to strain, swirl or otherwise try to separate this stuff out?

after you chill down give the wort a good swirl, this is known as whirlpooling, the protiens will concentrate into the center of the pot and forma small cone. simply siphon from the edge of this cone for a cleaner wort. anything small that remains in suspension can be handled by a cone filter that's been sanitized

I think that as long as you are keeping everything clean its a good thing to disrupt your wort prior to pitching yeast. Pouring through a strainer only helps aerate the beer. So why not?

It has been said by some of teh greats in brewing, George Fix for one. That cold break is actually benifitial to yeast in small amounts. So, sure it okay to to remove the majority of the Cold Break but I would get too gung ho about getting it all out prior to pitching the yeast.

After giving up on trying to pour my wort through a strainer, I started using one of those big nylon paint straining bags; just dump the wort in the fermenter, and no more clogging! Not sure how good it is at removing cold break, but it's great for catching hop gunk.
