Secondary or no secondary that is the question

Why do you need a secondary

While there are many many threads about secondaries, you don't necessarily need one. It can be good for adding ingredients into (dry hopping and the like) or for maybe getting a couple points lower gravity. You can also do it if you're worried about autolysis but most people don't these days.

There are lots of opinions if you just search for them.

Short answer: to dry hop, add fruit, wood chips, etc.

You don't, unless you're adding stuff. Good link above

Just like everyone said above. Adding fruit, dry hopping, etc. Imho its not needed

This has been covered on here hundreds of thousands of times, there's at least 3-4 threads a day asking this same question.

Read this thread-To Secondary or Not? John Palmer and Jamil Zainasheff Weigh In .

It covers everything, and pretty much has everyone's response on there already. Most folks these days pass by threads like this, since everyone pretty much has offered their opinions on it multiple times. So the above thread is almost the bible on it.
