Sanke spear (and others questions)
|
|
Does this come apart? If so, how? I'm sure it is something I'm just "missing"
Also, is there a place to order new seals? I would like the one that seals against the keg and also the ball, if possible. If not, I guess I'll soak it in oxyclean and see what happens.
Last- What is the best way to polish them? They are really old and have a few tiny rust spots on them that I would like to polish off/out. Any suggestions?
PS Kegs acquired legally, so...no need for a lecture on that.
Thanks!

THIS should help. FWIW I've never had to take mine this far apart, I just fill the spear with hot oxiclean and soak them upside-down in a bucket full of the same.
For the rust spots pick up a green scrubby and some Bar Keepers Friend.

You are the man! It looked fairly simple, but couldn't find the "how to" after searching a while yesterday.
Now to find those seals.
The kegs I have are probably 30 years old, but still great shape! Wife was worried that I would put something in there to consume. Heck yea I will!!

Sanke spear is like Excaliber....if you can successfully remove it, then you are the one true brewer of that keg. Good luck!

The only seal you should need is that little oring, you can use a -223 o-ring, silicone should work just fine. You can buy a package of 15 from HERE for less than $4.00 before shipping.
If the ball doesn't seal you should be able to stretch that spring a little and it should be fine.
