Default Safbrew T58

It states this yeast has a spicy flavor. I'm curious about it.
What styles of beer would you use this for? And what hops (spicy? maybe Mt Hood or Perle?) would you use?

works well in belgians, particularly saisons. made a good tripel with it before too. either of those hops would be fine with it, saaz & goldings would go along with the spice as well

Good in belgian wits, as I've made a pretty good one with it. Also, probably good in a tripel or golden strong. Hops that go well with it are saaz, styrian goldings, ek goldings, and really any noble hops variety.

Is it a Belgian strain?
I thought that was what safale-33 was.

I've made two types of belgians in the last month and used T58 for both it's for sure a belgian type yeast not say it can't be used for something else if the ingredients match.

Brewer's Best Tripel kit appears to come with s-33 - would the recommendation be to instead get T-58 if using a dry yeast (I understand this is not ideal) for the Tripel? With a recommended OG in the 1.085 range, would 1 packet be enough (or if not, would 2 packets be overpitching)?

Thanks. Sorry for dragging up an old thread!

T-58 is much better suited and makes a good tripel. S-33 is english (EDME)

1.085 is pushing it for 1 pack. it'll work, but i'd go w/ 2 packs: http://www.mrmalty.com/calc/calc.html
