Default Richmond, VA brew shop.... sort of

My wife found a place in Richmond that sells some homebrew ingredients and supplies, Compleat Gourmet on Cary St. Their website mentions nothing about, it just talks about cooking classes. SWMBO says they have a lot of brew stuff on hand such as yeast, hops, malt, carboys, and she picked me up some one-step sanitizer. I'm going to check it out this weekend so if I find more stuff their I will let you know.

You don't shop at The Weekend Brewer?

That shop is just outside of Richmond. Expensive though, IMHO.

I get my goods at the weekend brewer. Dude, where do you shop? HomebrewUSA? I'm in Hampton as well and just discovered HBUSA but I haven't been yet.

Yeah, I shop over there quite a bit. I know the owner pretty well, cause he helps out over at St. George's quite a bit.

I would venture to guess I do 50% of my shopping at HBUSA and 50% online--most of that @ HBA.

Weekend Brewer is in Chester, I used to drive by it every day when I lived there but now I'm in the west end of Richmond and it's a 35-40 minute drive. This place on Cary St. is about 10 minutes from my place.

Hey HF I live over in Lakeside and shop at both stores if you do any all grain brewing you will be very disappointed in the selection at Complete Gourmet. They have a small selection of canned malt and some specialty grains unmilled no base malt grain and some DME. I dont shop there often because of the prices are to high. I shop alot @ weekend brewer and their prices are very fair i have compared them to other online stores. Haven't been to Homebrew USA in a long time since they were located in Va Beach on Shore Drive. Will have to check them out this weekend. There is another place in Norfolk but definitely overpriced on Tidewater Drive. Wine and Cake Hobbies but they do have a nice selection of canned malts if you like extract.

Where is Lakeside? Thanks for the info on Compleat Gourmet. Weekend Brewer is really out of the way for me so I think I will continue to buy online. I haven't done any all grain yet. My first batch was a multi-mash(?) and I have 2 extract kits waiting in the 'fridge.

Off 95 North near Brook Road. Where in the west end do you live I used to live off Quiocassin Rd down from Regency square. Give me a shout if you need help when you want to do an all grain.
