I recently brewed a brown ale and dumped the cool wort on top of a previous used yeast cake. It's like a big party took off in the carboy. There was so much action that it blew the bung off of the carboy! Is this normal?
It will be fine & many do it-- but a whole yeast cake has too many cells for most beers of average OG.
