questions...brewing cerveza tonight
|

i bought the AHS mecican gold cerveza. the directions say to add the pale extract after the boil and let sit for 10 min. with no boil after. should i do this, or add it during the boil?

So it says not to boil any of the extract? If you post the recipe and directions it will help us help you. You could always do the Late Extract Addition in which you add about half (or a little less) extract at the beginning of the boil and the rest right after the boil.

It must be a prehopped extract? If it is, that would explain why you wouldn't want to boil it.
If you want to type out the recipe and instructions, we can give you some input.

welp, i was already into my boil when i posted this thread. i put in the extract with about 5 min left in the boil. i cooled it real quick, and took my hydro reading after i topped to 5 gal. it tasted great. super sweet, but its a wort, so its going to be. i tasted the background flavors that i was looking for. the target og was 1043. my og was 1052. ya think this is going to be an issue?

What often happens is that the wort and the top off water aren't thoroughly mixed. It's no problem at all.
