Default Question about a used turkey fryer

Found someone selling a used turkey fryer for pretty cheap. It looks to have been used several and not thoroughly cleaned between uses. Any reason why I can't just take some steel wool to the alum pot to have it ready for brewing?

aluminum pots need that layer of oxidation.

you can scrub it off, but then you'll need to season it again by boiling water in it for an hour (measure before & after to get your boil-off rate)

Can also try Bar Keepers Friends. I use my stainless steal pot for deep-frying a turkey every once in a while and that is what I use to get it nice and clean. As mentioned above just make sure to get that layer of oxidation back on the pot once you are done scrubbing.

I was worried about using my fryer for both.
After frying in it, clean and boil just water, clean again and I was good to go.
I didn't have to scrub the **** out of it.
Creme Ale extract went well, know for sure after bottle carbing.
Not too concerned.. will BAIB in it next batch.
