I brewed this Pumpkin Saison http://beersmithrecipes.com/viewrecipe/575871?&doid=5477eb0149d95
On October 5, and just bottled it today.
I noticed when bottling it had quite a bit of a pastrami smell. There was about a glass left, in tasting it, it's quite pastrami-y. It's not bad, if you like that flavour.
Has anyone had this happen before? Or is that the 'barnyard' characteristics of a saison?

Having not used that particular yeast, pastrami makes me think pepper and spices, and this is a spiced beer that has some of the same spices of often used in pastrami, and some Belgian yeasts can kick off a noticeable peppery phenol. So without actually tasting what you're tasting, I could see some resemblance. Now, if it's not just spice and it's got a meaty thing going on that could be a different story.
