Default Ohh SNAP. I suck!!

So all is going well with my Sierra Nevada Pale clone. After 5 days in the secondary, dry hopped, I add priming sugar to the bottling bucket, then transfer the brew from the secondary to the bottling bucket.

I commence to bottling. When I cap the second to last bottle, it hit me. I didnt swirl in the priming sugar. I didnt notice a build up on the bottom of the bucket so I figure one of 3 things will happen.
1. The sugar disolved during the transfer.
2. That last bottle will be daum good, compared to the rest
3. That last bottle will go BOOOMB!!

Can someone please either reassure me or scare the crap outta me?
Thanks.

You didn't boil the priming sugar with water? Well, you'll know better next time. 1 cup of water with 3/4 cup of priming sugar, boil for a few minutes, then cool.

Not swirling isn't the end of the world, your beer will swirl it as it's siphoned into the bucket. You did at least siphon, right?

Still, I think you'll end up with #1.

You could be OK then if the beer swirled as it was siphoned it though I have no experience in not adding priming sugar that is already dissolved in water. I usually start the boil water (~1 cup) first so that it has time to cool before racking my beer onto it.

Let us know how it turns out.

Our directions on our recipes have told us to pour the hot liquid (the boiled sugar) into the bottling bucket and then rack. Is it actually more beneficial to cool it first?

No. The heat from the boiled suuagr solution is negligible. Waste of time to then cool the sugar water.

I bottled a batch a while ago and was drinking the beer a couple weeks later... no problems. One night I went to get some bottles to put in the fridge for future consumption when I was first on the scene of a bloody broken bottle bomb! I was confused because this was not the case with any others. The only thing I can think of is it was the last bottled beer from the bucket and some sugar settled during bottling. You may experience this or I may be wrong but that is my first thought. You may have a bomb or two. Good luck.

Well, you potentially have a case of some bottles not carbing up and others being foamy. Worst case. I bet you'll be ok.

This happened to me once and like the previous post suggested, most of the bottles had hardly any carb and others were extra carbed. On the bright side it might give you the opportunity to see how different levels of carbonation effect a beer and you can determine what you perfer.
