Im a noob at homebrewing and brewed 1 batch already. I want to brew a stout is there anything special I need to know before I attempt?

Yep, use the calculators available online to figure how much corn sugar to add. Just google "Beer Carbonation calculator"

I'd suggest using dried malt extract (plain) to bottle with. The bubbles are a little finer, which I think makes the beer feel more like a hand pulled pint.

Edit: you can't substitute DME for sugar 1:1. I generally use about a cup and an eighth of DME for stouts.
