The Bud-Miller-Coors beers are actually rather difficult to brew. They don't have much maltiness or hopiness to hide any flaws. They use lager yeast, which requires temperature controlled fermentation and lagering.
If you like BMC beers, I would recommend starting with a low hop pale ale, a blonde, a cream ale, or a hefeweizen. If you like and are comfortable with those, but don't want to move on to hoppier or maltier styles, you can then learn to do a lager, like a Pilsner. I love Pils and German styles. American light lagers include corn or corn sugar to lighten them up, there's recipes for those also.
You can lager with a tub and ice bottles, or find an e-bay freezer with a temperature controller.
Start simple, learn to make a light, clean Ale, then research lagers if you want to take it to the next level.
