I went to my LHBS this morning to look for a 5 gallon brew pot. To my surprise I was told they didn't have any. Anyone in the Ithaca NY area they their supplies locally? I would love to buy local if possible but will use one of the online sites mentioned by many of you if I need to.

No need to buy a pot at your LHBS unless you want to buy the name brand brewing pots. I got my 10 gallon one on Amazon for $50. You can go to "thrift" stores and find 5 gallon ones for $15

Look at a camping store for a turkey fryer pot. They are usually about 7 gal. Perfect size for a 5 gal batch.

Home depot or Lowes typically has turkey fryers. 7.5g-8g pots with the propane burner $30-$50.

I don't have that one but all my pots and pans are Tramontina, best you can buy for the money.

But I would get an 8-10 gallon pot on Amazon and call it good for a while.

B&W Restaurant Supply by Aldi's has some beautiful stainless pots there! They are right down the road from that "LHBS" you speak of.
