The yeast that's included with the Mr. Beer kit is an ale yeast. I've had good results with the beers I've done with only Mr. beer yeast but I always used at least two, sometimes three, packets of the stuff. The best before date is written on the bottom of the cans so if it's past, or close to, that then just use another yeast of your preference.

IIRC the Mr. Beer yeast temp range is 68 to 74F

I have brewed with Mr Beer at the start and I do have to say you can make some really good beer with the kits.

I'm finally using some of these up today. I have a Belgian Dubbel fermenting and enough free bottles to start something else while that beast ferments.

I am using 2 cans with one booster (12.5 ounces of Corn Syrup Solids) and 1 lb. of DME in place of the second booster. I am also steeping .25 lbs. of Melanoidin Malt and .25 lbs. Caramel Malt 60L for 30 minutes. Let's see how this turns out in a month or so after the fermentation and bottle conditioning are complete.

Thoughts? Hopefully so approving ones on this since the grains are already steeping.
