Default Missed OG

Can i just add more water to my batch if i missed my OG by 8 or 9 points?

yes it was suppose to read 1.046 i am like 1.056

Sure; that's the best way to fix that "problem". But you want to make sure that your reading was correct:
  • Make sure your wort is very well-mixed. Shake it up for a couple of minutes before collecting your sample
  • Make sure your hydrometer is calibrated properly
  • Make sure you temperature-correct your hydrometer reading
