Ok so i was at my HBS and i asked another customer (clerks were busy) where the malto dextrin was...well he pointed me to the Dextrin/carapils grain which i thought was wrong but went with his advice anyways cuz he looked like he knew what he was doing. Well im breweing Bee Cave Brewerys Robust porter and it ask for 8 oz malto dextrin...will the carapils work with 8 oz? i read someone said 1 cup of powdered dextrin is the same as half a pound of carapils?
By weight, you need 12 ounces of dextrin malt in your mash to match 8 ounces of MD.
