Default Malt stuck in tap. Issue?

Hi everyone!

I am new to this all homebrewing thing, did my first batch a month ago and to my surprise it turned out quite ok, even with me adding 3 extra liters of water by mistake (a muntons porter, ended with less alchool than expected, but still ok).

Now I`m on my second batch, a muntons continental pilsner, but I did a mistake that it is worrying me a bit. My fermenter has a tap that I forgot open when I poured the malt. I noticed soon so little was lost, but what is worrying me is that some of that sticky malt will be stuck in the tap during the fermenting process. Can that contaminate the batch?

Thanks in advance!

if you have a way to clean it out, that would be good. you have any pics of what you're talking about?

No I don`t think I can clean it now. I opened the tap and wasted a bit of the wort to try to get rid of the malt stuck. I think most is gone but that thing is sticky!

if you have some cotton swaps you can clean the end out. that will be the only spot you would have to worry about infectious material. everything else past that point is closed off and in contact with the yeast.

What Billy said, I'd get that as clean as I could, maybe a spray bottle of starsan, your beer is going to pass though it so make it clean or use a siphon and you wouldn't need to worry about it.
Good luck.

Well that is sealed pretty tight, I think it would be fine but I definitely wouldn't drain it out of there. Actually, in any case, I'd say a siphon would work better for ensuring sanitation.
