Default Left a hop sock in.

I made my sam adams clone last night. After I pulled out the hop socks. I put the brew pot into a cold bath to cool. After cooling I pulled out the pot and poured it into the fermenter I noticed a large splash while pouring turns out one of the socks sank and I left it in the whole time it was cooling. I have no idea if it was the bittering, flavoring, or finishing. What's the scenarios here depending on what bag was left in.

Shouldn't matter at all.

Not worried so much about sanitation as far as flavor.

I usually don't remove mine until the wort is cool. Learned that because I kept burning my fingers. When I learned to use tongs the hop bags dripped on my feet and burned them. So now I just wait until everything is cool...haven't noticed any ill effects.

Most of us leave our hops in until after the wort is cooled anyway...once the wort starts cooling it isn't extracting any more flavor or aroma from the hops.

try throwing them in lose too. you'll get better extraction of the oils without them being all bundled together.

Yep, leave them in during wort cooling. It won't affect the beer.

I wouldn't worry. I pushed a rubber stopper into my carboy in my last batch. When I bottled it and got the thing out, the stopper smelled like beer, but the stopper did not affect the taste of the beer.
