I got some apples from work the other day and I knew they would go bad sitting at the house. I decided to make a small batch of hard cider, knowing only that yeast+sugar makes alcohol. I ended up with about 1gallon of cider, to which I added 1.5 cups of sugar and 2 packets of dry active yeast. I put the solution in a big dill pickle jar and poked a hole in the top, running a small rubber hose to another container with water- my solution for an air lock. Today is day 3 and there is a really nice heavy foam on top. I also have small white particles floating or "swimming" up to the top and back down. Is this anything to worry about?
