Default How's this recipe sound?

*first post*

Hey name name is Bob and I just got into extract brewing. After 4 kits I've decided to try my own recipe. I went for a fairly hoppy american pale ale here's what I used.
8oz carapils
8 oz caramel 10lL
Steeped at 155 for 15 mins.

60 mins 3 lbs light Pilsen DME and 2 oz warrior hops
30 mins 3.3 lbs light Pilsen LME and 1 oz centennial hops
15 mins 1 oz centennial hops
2mins 1 oz cluster hops.

If it were me, I'd have left out the carapils. Your extracts already have carapils in them, possibly some other low-L carmel/crystal malt as well. Extract beers don't tend to lack body or head retention, primarily because of how the extracts are formulated. They're designed to make a decent beer all by themselves.

Holy cow, that's a heck of a lot of bittering hops for a pale ale. I don't know the exact aa % of your hops but that looks to be in the 190 IBU range.

I was thinking the same thing! 2 oz of Warrior (16+AA%) in what appears to be a 5 gallon batch is a lot for a pale ale. It's going to be bitter.

I think the rest of it looks decent enough. Maybe dry hop with an ounce or two of a "C" hop if you have any around.
