Default hops, orange peel or other late additions....

When you add these things at flame out... How long do you keep them in the wort?
Do they stay in there while cooling the wort then get filtered out when you transfer to primary? If you cool quickly, this seems like a very short period of time.
Or should they not be filtered out and let them go into the primary?
Just curious.
Thanks.
