Once you finished brewing and you transfered the wort into you fermenter. What do you do with the remaining wort and hops in the kettle? How do you guys dispose of this? Where I used to brew that wasn't a problem, but at my new place there's no where to theow this out. I'm curious to see what you guys do.

Last time I brewed, I had 8oz of hops. Wounld't it just block the sink?

Use a strainer, then garbage disposal, toilet or woods, where it won't clog up any pipes.

I also only use pellet hops and they get washed down the drain as I am cleaning out my hop bag. Haven't had any issues yet with them clogging it up.

Compost. Landfilling perfectly good organic matter makes me feel bad...

I have a dog. My hops go down the drain. It's just pellet debris, so I haven't worried about clogs.

I pour mine right down the drain, and into the septic. I only use pellet hops also, and have had no problems. When I brew with a group of friends, we do partial mash biab in a 25 gal brew pot, and we compost all the grains and the hops.

When I was using hop sacks, I dumped them in a double blue plastic bag, tie off & take straight to the garbage can. I don't want the dog or cat getting poisoned from them. But using them loose in the boil now, I dump the gunk in the bottom of the kettle in the head & flush.

I clip a straining back inside of the bucket (like a trash bag in a trash can) and pour all of my chilled wort in (trub and all). Then I use the straining back to pull out all of the gunk and squeeze every last bit of delicious wort out of it before the remainder goes in the trash (we've got a very curious/hungry/stupid dog that eats pretty much everything).

Thanks for the ideas guys, I'l definitly try some of those this week end
