Default Help please! For a Christmas gift!

My brother in law has said he wanted a home brewery kit since he's recently decided he cannot tolerate yeast therefore only wants things that are gluten free. (Before he was drinking bud light) can anyone help direct me in what brand or kit or type of beer? It's a secret Santa thing so I can't ask him and I have no clue myself!

Thanks so much

Yeast is necessary for making beer. Gluten free beers are not easy for a beginner and I don't know of any homebrew kits that are both yeast and gluten free.

Perhaps find out if it's yeast he has a problem with or if it's gluten, or both.

If part the problem is yeast , is it all yeasts? I had an allergy for many years that included the yeasts used for sparkling wines, but not ale and lager yeasts.

Most dry yeasts are gluten free, but most liquid yeasts are not. Use Safale US-05 yeast for sure. I know that dry yeast is gluten free as I have used it before and my gluten-intolerant friends have had no problem with it.

Here's a neat-sounding gluten-free pale ale kit they can brew. Basically sorghum syrup as the base:

Hope this helps!

I had a second thought. Just involve him in a discussion why he gave up Bud Lite. Tell him you would like to brew something he might be able to tolerate.
