Default Headspace vs Brew Volume

Hi again,

I know my LHBS sells 15 gallons plastic barrel that was used for LME transport for $10.
I know it is good for brewing great beer, but one thing that get me thinking is the brew volume. Is it bad too have too much headspace? I May want to only brew a 5 gallons batch. The 10 G empty space seems funny with these huge barrels.

Alot of head space might be good for a primary fermentation. Having all that room will not create the need for a blowoff tube. In a secondary, however, I personally wouldn't want to have all that room unless you could purge it with CO2. Another concern I have about a container such as this is the fact that it could possibly create off flavors from holding all that LME. Also, does it have a hole in the top where you could insert an airlock?

Yeah, it has holes up to. It is listed as 32#. I bet it is huge. I can imagine 3 5 gallons bucket stacked up.
Wow....

yeah... the bucket looks nice, but racking and siphoning this baby would be back breaker....
It is like World's Strongest Man competition...
I guess I'll need a hand pump or auto siphoning tool for this.
