I'm brewing a batch of Liberty Cream Ale kit from Midwest. I didn't have the grains cracked but cracked them using a rolling pin. Steeped them for 1/2 hour and it just looks like dirty water (I can smell the grains). Did I crack the grains enough and if not, what will be the outcome? Thanks.

Hard to tell without seeing the crush. If they are not crushed enough the worse case is a lower efficiency due to not being able to access the starchy innards of the uncracked kernels!
If not mashing then you will probably not see too big of a difference though!

Good luck and keep us updated!!

What type of grains? In my very little experience, roasted barley needs to be milled to get the color and flavor, but crystal and Flaked are pre-pressed. If you're getting whole barley I'd at least recommend a mortar and pistil (sp?) type of crush. But the rolling pin should unlock a lot of it.
