Default Got some fresh hops, but curious...

My brother and sister-in-law picked up some fresh hops for me from someone who grows/harvests them. I had them ask the person what kind they were and they told them "Northern Tier." I've never heard of these kinds and a quick google search turned up nothing. Anyone have any idea what "Northern Tier" hops are? Confused

That was my first thought too, but the grower said "no, they're northern tier."

I guess I'll just smell them or make a hop tea when I get them to see if they're more of a noble(ish)/smooth type of hop vs a floraly/citrus hop bomb and brew with them accordingly.

Interesting, maybe it's some new experimental variety?

You could do a leaf comparison if you had the leaves. Apparently comparing the cones themselves is not that accurate.
