Default good second project

I just finished my first brew ever (a lager kit) looking for a good second project. Any thoughts, what was your second project?

I might even do the same one again. Just to compare. Afterall, consistency proves skill, right?

Who am I trying to kid? I didn't do this when I just started. I think my second was probably a Honey Cream Ale. Turned out awful. I recommend sticking with beers you know well (at least in taste profile), so you can compare. Perhaps a pale ale?

+1 on a pale, they're generally simple and very rewarding. Or an ipa.

Lager fro your first. That is diving right in there. I would go with an IPA simple and you can play around with hop profiles.

I did a nut brown for the first, followed by a Fat Tire clone, an Irish Red and ESB a Pale Ale and a Coffee Stout.
