I did my first brew yesterday
! I got the true brew k6 kit from my LHBS and a true brew amber ale recipe kit. I read in the kit that it only required a 6 quart pot so I bought an 8 quart thinking I was playing it safe. Lets just say i learned how to take apart the stove in the new apartment and its now cleaner than when we moved it! Boil overs are messier that i ever expected
! Then after that I was trying to decide how to get the wort from the pot into the carboy. I tried pouring it and that sure as hell didn't work, then I decided I would use the siphon that came with my kit. I have never used a siphon in my life so it took me a few tries to get it working. So next for the rest of the water, I had bought these 2.5 gallon water dispensers from the store, I opened up the tap and a small trickle came out. I would have been there for hours! I broke the tap off so now the water was glugging like crazy, I stabbed a hole in the top to let air flow through and that worked pretty good! Then I learned full carboys are pretty darn heavy. After all was done and the kitchen (and the rest of the stuff in the apartment i messed up) was all clean, I sat down and thought that was a lot harder than I thought it would be! But when I had sat for a few minutes I started thinking about what I would brew next. This stuffs addictive! I think next time I will order a kit online though, my LHBS unfortunately only really has true brew kits and coopers kits. Here's a few pictures of the brew!
Wow I rambled on a lot... Thanks for all of your help getting me there and I'll let you know how it turns out!
