Default First Attempt

After three days the action in the airlock has stopped...should I leave it or transfer to a secondary?

Depends on what your brewing but 99% of beers brewed today dont benefit from transferring to a secondary vessel. Take a hydrometer reading before you do anything crazy, just because it doesnt show visible signs of fermentation (airlock activity) doesnt mean that its done fermenting.

Cheers and Good luck!

I would leave it alone for a couple of weeks. It needs to age somewhere right, so don't risk infection by moving it to a secondary.

Leave it. When the rapid bubbling stops or slows down, only initial fermentation is done. It'll now slowly, uneventfully creep down to FG. Then give it 3-7 days after that to clean up & settle out clear or slightly misty. Some of you guys type faster, but get it wrong.

If you simplify your process using one fermentor only as so many brewers have, you will NEVER be done in 3 days. Some debate the benefits of secondary, but for new brewers obsessing over airlocks primary only is definitely the way to go. It helps you learn the first and most important brewing lesson, PATIENCE!!!!

A quick note on airlocks- they provide some evidence of what's going on but are NOT proof of fermentation or lack thereof....

Here's a nice explanation of what the yeast do in their cycle which has 3 phases. You're only starting phase 3. Give it time.
