Default "Final" gravity too high?

just racked my first batch (a nut brown kit from B3) into the secondary. I brewed it on July 16 and the OG was 1.055.

today, the gravity reading was 1.016

does that seem too high? I used White Labs English Ale yeast, which I believe does leave a sweeter finish.

it tasted good, BTW! (despite the ugly floaties in the primary.)

next up is a belgian strong ale. any advice on using Aromatic malt? recipe calls for 3 oz...was thinking of bumping it up to 4...I'd like to experiment, but don't want to ruin a whole batch just yet

Thanks!

That works out to 71% attenuation which is reasonable.

In terms of your next batch you aren't going to ruin it by increasing the aromatic by 1 oz, I am, however, a big fan of brewing a recipe first as written and then adjusting it if I want to tweak something.

making the recipe as originally designed (before tweaking) DOES make sense, Got Trub.

thanks for the reply.
