Well, I suppose you can be the judge of whether or not these are must haves, but in my experience up to this point, these have been great additions to making my brew day easier or my beer better.
I wrote up a nice article on my blog. Check it out!Beginner Homebrewer Must Haves

I definitely agree with the auto siphon. I have the other kind and it can be a pain in the butt. For a very small investment it can save a lot of time.
I'll buy another autosiphon when they make some that don't break when you look at them wrong.
I had one that broke to. It was a total piece of crap. This new one I got seems to work just fine and seems to hold up. I guess I can't say I've had it for 3 years, but my other broke out of the box...
+1 on the autosiphon. For me the bottle tree comes in pretty handy too. Regards, GF.
I'm sure everyone has their own must have list. My top 4 are: an accurate scale, a thermometer I trust, hydrometer, and my chiller!
I'd add the "How to Brew" book to that list.
+1 on the autosiphon as well. I find the $15 Jet bottle washer is a must have since I dont keg...yet.
