I have begun to ferment my first batch and my temp si running about 66 degrees. The directions call for 68 to 72 degrees. Is this going to be a problem or will it just take longer to ferment?

66 is good. Kit instructions always recommend a temp that is too high.

+1 just make sure to let it ferment for at least 3 weeks before bottling. Directions suck with that as well.

Is 66 the temp of the fermenter or the ambient temp?

It is the temp of the thermometer on the outside of the bucket. i would think the temp inside would be a couple degrees higher.
