Default fermenting temp question

The temperatures in my house are weird sometimes because of the way the AC system is set up. the coolest part during the summer is the basement, which maintains ~70deg (currently at 72) Is this an ok temperature for me to ferment at, or should I look into maybe doing that towel wrapped fermenter in a bucket of water deal?

just waiting on another order of copper pipe coming in tomorrow, and it's full speed ahead with my first batch

It depends a lot on the strain of yeast you are using. 72 should be fine for ale yeasts with the ideal temp being about 68 on average for most ale yeasts. If it stays a stable 72 you should be more than fine. Good luck on your first batch.

for the record: I'm using wyeast 1056, which according to their site should be pitched at 70, and it's temp range is 60-72.....

70 degrees is good for many ale yeast strains and many styles of beer. You're ready to roll!
