Fermentation chamber

I built my fermentation chamber today and added an outlet for my stir plate. I used a Holiday 7 cu.ft. from Lowes. My question is for those that use them what do you find best when using the temp probe? Should I let it hang or place it is a small cup of water?

I tape my probe to the side of my fermentor with gaffers tape.

i just put mine on the floor of the freezer. I figure the fermentors will be sitting on the floor so that would be a good place to measure temp.

Taped to the side of the fermentation chamber in a block of rigisd insulation som the sensor touches the fermenter.
