Is it unusual for fermenting to begin after a couple of hours?. My red ale is already going crazy. Went into the primary at 4:00pm and it is bublin at 6:00pm.
nope. i've had batches start that soon already too, usually with dry yeast.

yup, don't worry but that. I had a number of batches which begin fast as well.
Some of us wish or beers started that fast. Liquid yeast takes a little longer to start. Even my starter takes awhile.
Try pitching onto a yeast cake! I've had bubbling start while I'm still cleaning up my brewgear after doing so.
